Massage Therapy and Health

Regular Stretching is so good for you – here is one of my favourites!

If you spend a lot of time at a computer, behind the steering wheel, cooking, washing, basically doing anything with your arms, then this is the stretch for you!

It helps to relieve the tightness in the front of the shoulders (the pec major muscles on the chest) & helps to improve chronic postural issues – like “Upper Crossed Syndrome” & “Forward Head Posture” – which can be major contributors to headaches & neck pain.

I like to hold each of the 3 positions for exactly 30 seconds, so the set will take 90 seconds total. And I repeat it each time I make a cup of tea – while waiting for the kettle to boil.

Try it out – you’re going to love it! Just remember that a good stretch will feel slightly uncomfortable but never painful. If it hurts, you’ve pushed it too far and need to back off a little.

Happy stretching! 😃

INFLAMMATION: Quelling the Fire Within…

managing inflammation naturally and effectively

The term inflammation is derived from the latin ‘inflammare’ which means ‘to set on fire’! Inflammation can easily be identified by redness, heat and swelling (most often, but not exclusively, with accompanying pain). Many common conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune conditions are chronic inflammatory conditions. The exposure of cells and tissues to chronic inflammation causes significant damage and if left unresolved causes cellular impairment and loss of functional tissue, not to mention the associated pain.
